About Me

My name is Bernard Moss,

I was born and educated in London and went to Israel as a volunteer in the 1973 war of Yom Kippur. There I met my future wife Simone. She was from Brazil and she was studying psychology at São Paulo University and had another two years to finish her course. We got married in Brazil in December 1973 and at her suggestion, I decided to come to Brazil for those two years because Brazil was considered the country of the future.

Anyway, 40 years, three children, six grandchildren and two dogs later I was still in Brazil until returning to live in the UK in 2019.

As I was a photographer in England I thought I would try my luck in Brazil.

After working Freelance for a while, In 1976 Simone and I opened our own very successful photographic studio. We did weddings, bar-mitzvahs, first communions, portraits, family photos, school pictures, commercial work, and we made videos.

I have a deep interest in this subject because when my mother (when only 18 years old) managed to escape from Nazi Germany in 1939, she was allowed to take only a small suitcase and the equivalent of about £3.00 in cash, but the most important thing she brought with her was her family photo album. It was the only thing that survived from her family, so the memories are so very important for us to preserve, for now and for future generations.

I still have that album.

I have always enjoyed my profession. I like working with people and animals – it is such a privilege to be a witness to the most important moments in people’s lives. And now I would like to continue to take part in preserving people’s precious memories by creating VideoMemories4U.
